Integrated Ocean Observing System - OpenIOOS

OpenIOOS is a demonstration portal visualizing the provisional information products produced by the SCOOP system. This interoperability demonstration represents a coastal sciences community effort. Our partners include several federal agencies and dozens of the top research universities in the country. We rely heavily on Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards.

Some recent additions include:

An interoperability demonstration representing an effort to develop a Web Services Architecture for Ocean Observing. We are seeking participants who would like to serve their in-situ salinity and/or sea water temperature data via OGC SOS based Web Services. http://www.openioos.org/testbed/sos/gm_sos.html

The East Coast Wave Forecast (WaveWatch3 model) uses the OGC WMS standard and shows an overview of weather systems causing wave activity throughout the east coast along with their projected movement. The effectiveness of the forecast can be determined by clicking on the triangle-shaped buoy icons for a comparison to real-time observations. The actual forecast data file is available for download from the SCOOP archive. http://www.openioos.org/realtime/index.html?map_type=wave#
